Over a month without posting… Huh!?!? How did that happen?

When I first started this blog I had a clear picture in mind. I would post once a week (confident that I would find something interest to talk about every week) and after returning to NL from PE I would continue to do the same from here. That last part of the plan, however, is yet to work out.

No hello, no goodbye

I’ve been in Groningen for almost 3 weeks. That’s it. I was in Peru and 12 hours later, bam! Welkom in Nederland.

After cramming everything I like from my city into one 23 kg suitcase, I just didn’t have the time. But even if I did, I still don’t think I would have posted such an entry. I hate those goodbye moments. And not because of the pain, the sadness or any of those touchy-feely reasons. I hate it because most of the times what’s said is not sincere.

While riding the bus and passing one of those roofed bus stops I noticed something very peculiar. On top of the roof, therefore invisible to the people waiting under it, there were six sandwiches. All of them perfectly wrapped, with a paper napkin and in a plastic bag. How did they get there? What’s the story behind them?

Service, please!

One of many, many differences between Peru and the Netherlands is the approach to customer service. In Peru, we tend to think very highly of a customer. In the Netherlands, we tend to forget that they are customers. In Peru, they’re treated like handicapped royalty. In the Netherlands, they’re not treated at all.
